Sign's of the lake's
existence are still abundant. Apart from the obvious feature of the sand ridge, the existence of the
Gubatsaa hills (rocky outcrops commonly known as "kopjes") that are situated relatively close to the
ancient shoreline (the Makwikhwe sand ridge) give further evidence of the great lake.

You will notice the
nearly sheer northeastern faces of the Gubatsaa hills. These were cut into cliffs by the crashing
force of the waves, which once pounded against them. In the lee of the hills you will find accumulations
of round pebbles that have been ground to their oval shape by the ceaseless rolling on the shores
of the lake.
